AMD to increase production of graphics processors for mining


In response to the demand of the market, the manufacturer of graphics processors and CPUs AMD intends to increase the production of graphics processors, popular among the cryptocurrency miners. In the first quarter of 2018 due to the release of new products, AMD expects to increase revenue by 32% comparing to the same period last year.

The company shared a report, that AMD finished the last quarter of 2017 without losses, and the company’s total revenue was $ 1.48 billion, of which $ 958 million came from the graphics and computer equipment department.

However, comparing to the third quarter of 2017, when there was a jump in sales against the backdrop of high demand from cryptocurrency miners, the company’s revenue decreased by 10% and the net loss amounted to $ 61 million. The company’s total revenue for the fiscal year was $ 5.33 billion, showing an increase of 25% over the previous year.

In November 2017, analysts of the investment bank Morgan Stanley lowered the rating of AMD shares, referring to the volatility of demand for cryptocurrency mining equipment in 2018.
